On October 18th, 2025, the Megawatt Family Foundation, in partnership with the Bamburi Charity Network (BCN), hosted the Dignity for All Sanitary Pads Drive at St. Mary’s Health Care, Mtwapa. The initiative sought to advance menstrual health and hygiene management (MHM) among girls and women—particularly those with disabilities—by providing sanitary products, mentorship, and awareness on menstrual wellness and reproductive health.

Restoring Dignity Through Compassionate Action

The event’s mission was to promote confidence, hygiene, and self-worth among vulnerable women and girls in the community. Through the joint efforts of dedicated partners, the drive successfully distributed 144 dignity packs, each containing six packs of sanitary pads and three pairs of panties.

Beneficiaries included teenage mothers (70%), elderly women (20%), and persons with disabilities (10%)—underscoring the inclusivity and compassion that defined the day’s engagement.

Awareness, Education, and Empowerment

Beyond distribution, the event featured impactful sessions focused on menstrual health, reproductive wellness, cancer awareness, and building self-confidence among young women. Though planned cancer screenings could not be conducted due to budget constraints, discussions raised strong awareness on early detection and the importance of regular health checks.

Inspirational mentorship from Auntie Baha (Help a Broda Initiative) and Ruthelia (Elafa) encouraged open dialogue, peer learning, and emotional support—empowering beneficiaries to embrace their health journeys with confidence and pride.

Collaboration for a Greater Cause

The event’s success was made possible through generous contributions from Megawatt Energies Ltd, Reverie Adventures Ltd, Kinky Curls Hair & Beauty Studio, and Friends of the Foundation. Additional support from community-based organizations—Elafa, Help a Broda Initiative, and Epic Youth Organization—enhanced the program through advocacy, mentorship, and media coverage.

Together, these partnerships reflected the essence of collective impact—showing how unity can transform lives and create lasting change within communities.

Financial Stewardship and Transparency

A total of KES 94,723 was raised to fund the initiative, with KES 89,800 directed toward the purchase of dignity packs and event materials. The remaining funds covered logistical expenses, ensuring every contribution translated directly into community benefit.

This transparent and accountable approach reinforces the foundation’s dedication to integrity and responsible social investment.

Looking Ahead: Sustaining the Movement

The Megawatt Family Foundation and BCN reaffirm their commitment to expanding this initiative. Future plans include:

  1. Strengthening partnerships with health institutions for medical screenings and preventive healthcare services.
  2. Mobilizing more sponsors for broader outreach.
  3. Integrating skills-based empowerment programs such as reusable pad production and small-scale business training.
  4. Documenting impact stories to showcase tangible community transformation.

A Shared Commitment to Dignity and Hope

The event concluded with heartfelt appreciation from the Sisters of St. Joseph, BCN leadership, and community participants. Their gratitude reflected not only the physical relief provided but the emotional empowerment and restored dignity experienced by all in attendance.

Through collaboration, compassion, and purpose, the Dignity for All Sanitary Pads Drive continues to affirm one simple truth — every woman and girl deserves to live with confidence, dignity, and opportunity.
